| Modern Warfare 2 breaks UK first day sales records

ELPSA/GfK-ChartTrack has today released the statics for the first day of sales of Modern Warfare 2 in the UK; which comes in at a whopping estimated 1.23 million units, grossing around £47 million. This breaks the previous first day sales record which was set by Grand Theft Auto IV last year at an estimated 631,000 units, grossing £27.2 million on its first day of release.
This just goes to show how popular video games are becoming in the UK, specially since this game is targeted towards older gamers (aged 18+). It also demonstrates that the multiplayer aspect of games are becoming an extremely good selling point for games in this genre.
