The PlayStation 3 was launched on 23rd of March 2007 in Europe and quickly became the fasting selling home games console in the UK, selling just under 165,000 consoles in the first two days beating the previous record set by the Nintendo Wii at just over 100,000. Although the PSP still holds the record for selling approximately 185,000 units in its first two days, it shows that PS3 is just as popular and Sony now hold the record for the fastest selling handheld games console and home games console.

One of the other great features of the PlayStation 3 is it's full online network called the PlayStation Network, which features dedicated online servers for online gaming, voice, video and text chat as well as access to exclusive content in the PlayStation Store which ranges from the latest game demos, to full digital copies of games that are available in the shops in disk format, at competitive prices. But the best feature of all is that the PlayStation Network is free, meaning you have no expensive monthly subscription just to play online.
